Dr. Silke Bogart, DVM

DVM

Dr. Silke Bogart was raised in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. Growing up with a Great Dane, a Newfoundland, and a horse, she developed an early interest in helping animals. She graduated from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. She practiced in Buffalo, NY and Long Island until she and her husband, Dr. Michael Dattner, purchased Brookfield Animal Hospital in 1999.

Dr. Bogart’s special interests include ultrasound and internal medicine. Dr. Bogart is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association. She is also the hospital’s USDA accredited veterinarian for international travel documents.

Dr. Bogart loves traveling, hiking with their dogs, music and skiing. Drs. Dattner & Bogart have two children together, Alexa and Kyle, their cats Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, their shepherd mix Kita, and their Labrador mix Jack.

Dr. Dattner, DVM

DVM

Dr. Michael Dattner was born and raised in Queens, NY. Having always wanted to be a veterinarian, he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in 1994 where he met his wife Dr. Silke Bogart. After practicing on Long Island, he and his wife purchased Brookfield Animal Hospital, then known as Animal Medical Clinic, in 1999.

Dr. Dattner enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, especially surgery and dermatology. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

In his spare time, Dr. Dattner enjoys downhill skiing, strength training and water sports. Drs. Dattner & Bogart have two children together, Alexa and Kyle, their cats Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, their shepherd mix Kita, and their Labrador mix Jack.

Dr. Chris Mixon, DVM

DVM

Dr. Mixon has been practicing veterinary medicine for 26 years, since receiving his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at The University of Florida in 1996. After graduating, he practiced in St. Petersburg, Florida, for one year. From there he moved to the Orlando, Florida area to work at and eventually purchased Alafaya Trail Animal Hospital, where he stayed until 2006. In 2006, Dr. Mixon and his family moved to Connecticut where he purchased Newtown Veterinary Center in Newtown. At the end of 2017, after being the sole veterinarian for eleven years, he made the professional and personal decision to join the staff here at Brookfield Animal Hospital.

Dr. Mixon’s veterinary interests are many, but he particularly enjoys orthopedic and soft-tissue surgery. He also has an interest in preventive healthcare with a focus on client education as well as good nutrition and lifestyle. Dr. Mixon is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association.

When Dr. Mixon isn’t spending time with his wife and young adult children, he is a musician who plays the guitar and drums, and spends much of his leisure time in the outdoors.

Lead Veterinary Technician

I have two pets. Conan is a six year old male Belgian Malinois mix who always keeps us on our toes. Percy is a six year old male cat. He was rescued off the mean streets of Brooklyn, NY and is a very happy cat now.

I enjoy the client education part. I love knowing I am making a difference in not only the pets’ lives but also the owners’.

In my free time, I like crafts, paddle boarding, hiking and reading. I love spending quality time with my family and fur babies.

Practice Manager

I have one dog, a six year old Great Pyrenees named Norrie. As a livestock guarding dog with no livestock to guard, she guards me and loves to tell the world her story. I also have a fish tank with an assortment of tropical community fish.

I enjoy helping clients understand their pets. It is such a pleasure sharing with them how much everyone here is dedicated to the health and well-being of each and every patient.

In my free time, I love being a dog trainer and I have many years’ experience. I also love gardening, crafts (many!), playing violin, piano (classical) and reading everything from non-fiction to mystery. I treasure any time I can spend with my sisters.

I have a sweet cat named Moonshine. She is seven years old and is a tuxedo cat (black and white). She is extra spicy when she comes for her yearly hospital wellness visits!

I have two dogs, two cats, and a Bearded Dragon. Saphira is a nine year old Bearded Dragon and I adopted her from another family. Eros is a one and a half year old Shepherd / Pt mix. I rescued him from a kill shelter in NJ. Fenris is a four year old Pit mix, rescued from P.A.W.S. Hermes is a one year old snow shoe cat, rescued from here in Brookfield. Merlin is a four year old tuxedo cat, rescue from Georgia.

I love building relationships with the clients have having them trust me with their pets. I enjoy meeting and interacting with different animals and helping them feel better – and knowing I made a difference.

In my free time, I love singing and art. I love hiking, trail running, camping, fishing, bowling, softball and anything outdoors. I also love spending time with my animals, reading and gaming.

I have two dogs, two cats and nine chickens. Piper is a six year old Australian Shepherd. She is a very active herding dog and loves to herd the cats. Goose is a four year old Hound mix. He is a couch potato who prefers to be in physical contact with his humans at all times. Eloise is nine year old long-haired Tortie with the typical Tortie “tude”! Tilly is a four year old brown tabby. She has neurological issues but she’s my lap-warmer.

I enjoy problem solving client issues and forming relationships with the clients and their pets.

In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and friends, and gardening.

I have a dog and two cats. Rylee is a Corgi. She can be a grumpy old lady, but once she gets to know you, she will always be happy to see you. She’s my shadow, so wherever I am at home, that’s where she is! Mama is a lynx point Siamese. She is the sweetest cat ever. She loves people and cuddling and likes to knock whatever is in your hand so you can pet her instead. Phoebe is a tiger cat who loves to sing but is also very shy.

I enjoy creating relationships and earning the trust of our clients and their pets.

I love to read!! I love to escape to another world in book form. My favorite genre is fantasy/romance. I also love spending time with family and friends and doing fun things with them. My husband and I love to do escape rooms.

I have two cats. Koda is a six year old Siamese mix. I call him my “soul kitty”. Klaus is a three year old gray cat, who is very friendly and a total love bug! (Yes, I am the resident cat lady!)

Seeing puppies and kittens brightens my day!

I love to read Fantasy. I also love arts and crafts and DIYs around the house. I specifically enjoy floral Preservation. I also love cooking.

I have a gecko, a snake, three fish tanks with an assortment of fish, eleven chickens including one rooster and one dog(but basically two with my neighbor’s dog). I also have three guinea pigs.

I enjoy the love most people have for their animals and how far they will go for them and vice versa when it comes to the patients’ love for their owners.

In my free time, I like reading, taking care of and spending quality time with my animals as they’re all my best friends. I also enjoy running and enjoying good places to eat and spend time.

I have three dogs, a cat and a horse. Dierks is a three year old male Aussie, Clementine is a ten year old female Pittie, and Guinness is a two year old male Dutch Shepherd mix. Appa is a one year old cat, and Tex is my seven year old male Blue Roan horse.

I love being the voice for the ones that have no voice. I like to help the pets live their best life happy and healthy.

I love to go on adventures, day trips, and hiking with my dogs. I spend a lot of my time at the barn riding my horse and getting ready for shows. I like to spend time on the water (boat, kayak, and fishing). I also love spending time with family (especially Gram).

I have two family pets and one dog of my own. Bella and Valentino are bichon mixes and Kenai (keen-eye) is a Rottweiler.

I enjoy the smiles we bring to people when helping their animals. I love getting to know each patient and seeing them when they come in!

In my free time, I enjoy going to the lake, the beach and going shopping. I also love to spend time with friends.

I have four cats and all are rescues. Princess Sylvanus Momma Kitty is a Siamese Manx mix. She runs the house. Pharaoh is a tiger who loves to play and can jump crazy high. Lunar is dark gray with stripes and she is my crazy feral zoomy cat. Maggie is a sassy, spicy calico who like to cuddle on her terms.

I like knowing I put owners at ease when they have to board their bets. I love meeting all the animals and getting to know them.

In my free time, I like to pay World of War Craft on my computer, read, e outdoors, and of course hang with animals whenever I get the chance.

I have 2 dogs. Trini is a twelve year old Australian Cattle Dog/Jack Russell Terrier Mix. Puff is an eleven year old Jack Russel Terrier / Miniature Poodle mix.

I really enjoy hearing clients talk about what their pets do at home (i.e., temperament, favorite activities) because it lets us build a stronger connection to them.

I love to play guitar and the drums, go or hikes, and play ice hockey!

I have a 12 year old cat named tinkerbell. She is a senior rescue. She is fiery and loves her head pet. She also loves to play like age is nothing by a number.

I enjoy seeing newly adopted patients with their forever owners and hearing the joy of the clients when they say their pet is feeling better.

I like to listen to music and audio books. I also like to work out and hang out with my friends.

I have two dogs named DJ and Peyton, two birds named Sunny and Luna, and two bunnies named Bugs and Edward! All of them get along very well together and are extremely socialized and sweet! They all love to watch each other around the house!

I love being able to make patients feel comfortable and adjust to their needs and temperament. Making patients feel better is very rewarding! I love to make clients feel comfortable as well knowing their animals are in good hands!

In my free time, I really enjoy nature, hiking, kayaking and hanging out with friends! I’m also a video game enthusiast

Arlo is my three year old Sharpei / Australian Shepherd mix who absolutely loves food! Tuck, who is one year old, is a terrier mix who loves to run and play with toys.

I enjoy seeing all the different kinds of pets and knowing when clients leave, their pet has received careful and loving treatment from our veterinarians!

I enjoy reading and playing with my dogs!

I love working with animals and I especially enjoy being able to help the surgeon with orthopedic surgeries.

In my free time, I love to ride Dallace, shop with my dog, and read non-fiction.

I have a dog and a rabbit. My dog is a three year old Cane Corso named Roman. He is a lover for walks. My bunny is Luna. She is six years old and she is house trained.

In my free time, I like hiking, photography, kayaking and enjoying nature.
